Children's Hunger Awareness Forum
In celebration of its 31st birthday, Sts. Joachim and Ann Care Service will host a forum July 26 to raise awareness about the local child homelessness and hunger problem. The event will begin at 10 a.m. at the Care Service building, 4116 McClay Rd. in St. Charles.
Panelists at the Children’s Hunger Awareness Forum will include experts, community leaders and families who have been personally affected by homelessness and hunger. Guests are also invited to speak with the experts to learn more about the issues plaguing local families and children.
The Sts. Joachim and Ann Care Service works to break the cycle of homelessness with its programming. Through initiatives such as its Child and Family Development program, the organization helps kids stay in school, creates a safe environment, and provides for their basic needs. With this support, its press material notes, the organization hopes people will be able to overcome their circumstances and have more successful futures.
Attendees at the forum are encouraged to bring a donation of kid-friendly snacks for the Care Service’s Thursday Pantry night. Items such as cereal, Pop-Tarts, juice boxes, fruit cups, mac and cheese, cheese sticks, and fruit roll-ups are often in short supply.
RSVPs are not required, but to do so, call 636-441-1302, extension 263. For more information about Sts. Joachim and Ann Care Service, go to www.jacares.org.
