Arts Note: Symphony additions include sounds of Queen and Pink Floyd
The St. Louis Symphony has announced a schedule of Live at Powell Hall additions that really rock.
The 2013 spring lineup now includes the Music of Queen on May 31 and the Music of Pink Floyd on June 1. On June 28, symphony-goers can enjoy The Classical Mystery Tour commemorating 45 years of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
Other new, non-rock additions include a March 3 Afternoon at the Oscars performance with music from “Out of Africa,” “Doctor Zhivago,” “Casablanca,” “Star Trek” and more award-winning films. On June 8, the symphony presents Tchaikovsky’s "1812 Overture," among other classical favorites. And the Five by Design musical group joins the symphony June 23 for an afternoon of big-band sound.
Previous 2012-2013 season announcements included An Evening with Ray Charles, an apperance by saxophonist Kenny G., and an musical accompaniment to “The Wizard of Oz.” A full schedule is available at www.slso.org.
