Barroom Conversations: Violence and Perception

Recent events - from the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in Florida, to a shooting in our very own Delmar Loop the first weekend of April, and other acts of violence - have ignited a national conversation on a number of different sensitive issues: race relations, gun control issues, and public safety, all of which barely scratch the surface.
Join us for a Barroom Conversation on Monday evening, April 16th, to discuss these events and how they have or haven't shaped your perception of violence in society today.
The St. Louis Beacon's Barroom Conversations are lightly moderated, public discussions about class, race and other newsworthy topics and issues of the day. The conversations are usually arranged around a specific topic but -- as all good conversations do -- range all over the place.
This nationally recognized forum meets regularly at Six Row Brewery, on Forest Park at Spring here in St. Louis, usually on the third Monday of every month unless otherwise noted. Civility is standard behavior, and all good ideas are welcome.
